For Egg Donors - The Steps in the Process

If you meet the egg donor requirements, the first step in the process is to complete and submit to us your Donor Oocyte Personal History Form along with 5 - 6 recent color photos (a close up of your face as well as a full body shot), as well as photos of you as an infant and teen. Please do not send pictures of your own children, the prospective parents are interested in what your characteristics are. Once we have received your application and it has been approved, we will then place your photo on our web site for prospective parents to view.

The process of matching can sometimes happen right away or can take months; it just depends on what our clients are searching for. Once you are matched, you will then set up an appointment with our social worker or the psychologist from the prospective parent's clinic for your psychological screening. After the psychologist has approved you, the fertility clinic will arrange for you to have a urine drug test, communicable disease screening and hormone testing done. You will also be required to have a vaginal ultrasound performed to check for "resting follicles". You're partner will also be required to perform communicable disease screening as well.

After the match is made, the entire donation can take 2-3 months depending on where you and the intended mother are in your cycles.

Compensation

You will receive compensation for your donation in the amount of $5,000 for first time donors; in addition, you will be compensated for missed wages and childcare expenses. Travel accommodations will be covered for you and a companion in the event your donation happens out of state; second time donors who have a proven track record may request a higher compensation depending on her qualifications. We ask that you remain conscientious of the financial situation the prospective parents are in while asking for a reasonable compensation. AEM places a $10,000 max on exceptional, proven status.*  Please also keep in mind that you are responsible for reporting this income to the IRS. We understand what a remarkable woman you must be to be offering so much of yourself to help someone else. Thank you again, and we look forward to getting to know you.

* Exceptional donors are given the opportunity to ask for higher compensation. This includes donors with high ACT and SAT scores as well as high IQ levels. You may also qualify as an exceptional donor if you are currently attending or have graduated from an Ivy League university. Please be reasonable regarding your compensation request (Max is $10,000).
