REAL ID Deadline Is Coming
What Egg Donors & Surrogates Need to Know

If you’re an egg donor or gestational carrier (surrogate), travel is often part of your journey. Whether it’s for medical screenings, retrievals, transfers, or checkups, many of these steps can involve flying across state lines. That’s why it’s essential to be prepared for the upcoming REAL ID deadline.
Starting May 7, 2025, all U.S. travelers must present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card to board domestic flights. If your current ID doesn’t have a star in the top corner, it might not be accepted for air travel!
Why This Matters for You
- Egg Donors: You may need to travel to the clinic where your recipient is being treated!
- Surrogates: You may need to fly for your embryo transfer, medical clearance, or intended parents’ clinic visits.
What to Do Now
✔️ Check your ID for a star in the corner.
If you don’t have a REAL ID, schedule a DMV appointment ASAP. Bring the required documents (like proof of identity, Social Security number, and residency).
Avoid last-minute stress and delays—get your REAL ID ahead of time so your journey to help create a family stays on track!
